Bare and dressed particles in collision theory

چکیده

The bare-dressed technique is, for the first time, used in collision theory. The approach is valid for classical as well for quantum binary elastic collisions in the non relativistic regime. The same formalism can be used for inelastic collisions, when the particles undergo only a change of their internal quantum states during the collision process. All kinematic results can be obtained by a simple matrix transformation. Moreover, to make also simple and clear the results, for the inelastic collisions, the restitution coefficient formulation of inelastic processes has been used. PACS: 01.55.+b; 03.65.Nk

Renormalization and dressing in quantum field theory

We illustrate the mass and charge renormalization procedures in quantum field theory using, as an example, a simple model of interacting electrons and photons. It is shown how addition of infinite renormalization counterterms to the Hamiltonian helps to obtain finite and accurate results for the S-matrix. In order to remove the ultraviolet divergences from the Hamiltonian, we apply the Greenber...

Space-time properties of a boson-dressed fermion for the Yukawa model

We analyze the interaction of fermions and bosons through a one-dimensional Yukawa model. We numerically compute the energy eigenstates that represent a physical fermion, which is a superposition of bare fermionic and bosonic eigenstates of the uncoupled Hamiltonian. It turns out that even fast bare fermions require only low-momentum dressing bosons, which attach themselves to the fast fermion ...

Gauge-invariant theory of pion photoproduction with dressed hadrons

Based on an effective field theory of hadrons in which quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is assumed to provide the necessary bare cutoff functions, a gauge-invariant theory of pion photoproduction with fully dressed nucleons is described. The formalism provides consistent dynamical descriptions of πN → πN scattering and γN → πN production mechanisms in terms of nonlinear integral equations for fully...

Modeling the aggregation of partially covered particles: theory and simulation.

A theoretical model for describing the initial stages of the aggregation of partially covered colloidal particles is presented. It is based on the assumption of short-range interactions that may be modeled by a sticking probability on contact. Three types of sticking probabilities are distinguished depending on the collision type, i.e., for bare-bare, bare-covered, and covered-covered collision...

Effect of Induced Dipole-Induced Dipole Potential and the Size of Colliding Particles on Ion-Quadrupolar Molecule Collision Rate Constants

Classical trajectory (Monte Carlo) calculation is used to calculate collision rate constants of ion-quadrupolar molecule interactions for the H¯+C2H2 system. The method presented here takes into account the effect of the induced dipole-induced dipole potential on ion-quadrupolar molecule collision rate constants. It is also assumed that the colliding particles have a d...
